A DEADLY START FOR 2023- CAR ACCIDENT CRASHES CLAIM SEVERAL LIVES By Michael Joseph on January 06, 2023

 PEDESTRIAN FATALITY IN ROCKLAND COUNTY

Our New York pedestrian accident lawyers know how tragic the results can be when pedstrians are struck by motor vehicles. On a quiet street in the Hudson Valley, a 21-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car while walking. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers pedestrians face on our streets and roads, especially in Rockland County. Even though New York law gives pedestrians the right of way over turning vehicles, pedestrians continue to suffer serious personal injuries after being hit by cars.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 6,000 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents during 2018 alone. In New York State, that number was over 250. Further, more than 132,000 pedestrians were injured in traffic accidents nationwide over the same period. These are sobering statistics and represent real tragedies for those involved.

Pedestrians face unique risks when navigating through roads and streets. Even when pedestrians are following all safety guidelines – like crossing at crosswalks or intersections – motorists may still be distracted or simply not paying attention to their environment. Moreover, drivers may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, or driving recklessly – all factors that can lead to pedestrian accidents with catastrophic consequences.  It is also essential for drivers to pay attention to their surroundings and always keep an eye out for pedestrians who may be crossing the street or walking alongside it. Although New York law gives pedestrian in the crosswalk the right of way over turning vehicles, pedestrians continue to be hit and killed by cars.

The death of this young woman serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how easily tragedy can strike on our roads and highways across Rockland County and beyond.  . If you have been hurt in a pedestrian accident due to someone else’s negligence, contact our New York City, Westchester and Rockland pedestrian accident lawyers  today so we can help you get justice for your injuries.

Person Injured in a Car Accident in Northern Westchester Accident

On Monday, January 2 at 4 p.m., firefighters responded to an accident on Butlerville Road and found a vehicle had crashed into a stone wall, causing serious injuries to one person. If you or someone you know has been involved in an accident like this, it is important to seek counsel from an experienced lawyer who can help protect your rights and ensure you receive the compensation you deserve.

Car accidents are among the most common causes of personal injury in the United States. Depending on the severity of the crash, victims can suffer physical injuries as well as emotional trauma. It is important to understand your legal rights and options after being involved in a car accident.

In these cases, injury victims may be eligible for compensation from the driver’s insurance provider. This could include medical bills and lost wages due to missed work or even pain and suffering caused by the accident. However, many insurance companies will try to minimize their payouts or even deny valid claims entirely. That is why it is important to have an experienced attorney on your side who can negotiate with insurers on your behalf and fight for maximum compensation for your losses.

Additionally, if additional parties are found liable for the accident—such as a manufacturer of faulty auto parts—you may be eligible to pursue additional damages through product liability lawsuits. An experienced New York personal injury lawyer can determine who should be held responsible for your injuries and help build a case against them in court.  When dealing with serious injuries sustained due to another party’s negligence, it is important to understand all of your legal options so that you get what you deserve from insurance companies or any other liable parties involved in an accident like this one in Northern Westchester County. An experienced personal injury attorney can help guide you through this difficult process and make sure that all of your rights are protected throughout every step of the process towards achieving justice for yourself or loved ones affected by this tragedy.\

                                                                                                                   Tragedy on New Year's Day

As we come out of a difficult year, 2021 has started off with an unfortunate tragedy. On the morning of January 1st in Rockland County, two women were killed in a single-vehicle crash. The details are still unclear, but here’s what we know so far.

The accident happened at around 1:30am in the town of Haverstraw on Beach Road near the Kayak launch area, in Rockland County. According to responding officers from the Haverstraw Police Department, there were three women in the vehicle when it left the road and crashed into an embankment. The driver was a 64-year-old woman from Haverstraw who stated she was taking a right turn when she lost control of the car.

Sadly, one of the passengers, a 65-year-old Stony Point woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no information yet on the condition of the third passenger or what exactly caused this tragic accident.

The investigation is ongoing, but police have already urged drivers to be extra cautious on roads that are wet or snow covered as this can increase your chances of being involved in an accident like this one.  Our New York personal injury lawyers know that drivers are required to adjust their speed to accomodate for inclement weather and the weather is generally not an excuse for an accident.

Unfortunately accidents like these happen all too often and no words can bring back those who have been affected by them. Our thoughts remain with those who have lost loved ones and our firm stands ready to help anyone who has been injured in an accident due to someone else’s negligence get justice they deserve during this difficult time. On Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at about 10:20 a.m,  a tractor-trailer flipped over a guardrail on an exit ramp and landed on I-287 in Westchester County, whcih resulted in one unfortunate fatality.  The tractor-trailer lost control while traveling on the Exit 9A ramp from I-287 to I-684 north in Harrison, fell from the roadway, and landed on the I-287 westbound lanes, according to state police. The driver of the tractor-trailer was killed as a result of the crash, and an occupant of a vehicle that was on I-287 when the tractor-trailer fell was hospitalized. The New York State Police are investigating the crash, and it is unclear what caused the tractor-trailer to lose control and fall from the roadway, but our Westchester truck accident lawyers know that the most obvious cause is driver error, since tractor trailers do not suddenly veer off bridges if they are being operated at a safe speed and the driver is maintaining control of the truck.
