Man Files Lawsuit For Getting Large Cockroach In His Cappuccino

43-year-olf Steven Fleming of Manhattan has filed a lawsuit against The Arlington Club, a swanky Upper East Side steakhouse, where he ordered a cappuccino which came with a nasty large cockroach in it.

The incident happened in April when Fleming brought his friends to the eatery, who were interested in opening a restaurant. Fleming brought them to show the place which was launched in 2012 by star chef Laurent Tourondel, who is no longer the chef there. It is known that dinners at the club can easily hit the $500 mark.

Before they ordered dessert and coffee, they chowed down on salad, steak and some wine.

“I took a sip of my cappuccino, I felt something disgusting in my throat, and then something crunchy,” said Fleming. “And then I spit it out and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”

He quickly snapped a couple of pictures of the disgusting experience before he ran outside to vomit on Lexington Avenue.

Fleming is now suing The Arlington Club in Manhattan Supreme Court.

He claims that he experienced a variety of symptoms after the incident, including high blood pressure and nausea and had to spend 12 hours in the emergency room.

“We want to make sure we hold this restaurant accountable and that this doesn’t happen to anyone else. For the prices they’re charging the very least they could do is make sure the customers don’t have bugs in their food. We think New Yorkers deserve better,” said his lawyer, Michael Joseph.

Fleming said that the incident really grossed him out. He runs the executive search firm Wall Street Options.

“On the surface, it looks like a very nice place,” he said. “I thought this would be a good example of something relatively trendy and with above average food. I’ve been going to restaurants for 20 years in New York City and nothing like this has ever happened to me.”

A manager at The Arlington Club declined to comment on the incident. He further added that he was unaware of the lawsuit.
